The open position is located at ArcelorMittal Chair at the University of Luxembourg, which was created by the University of Luxembourg and ArcelorMittal.

Your Role...

The PhD student (doctoral candidate) will work under the guidance of a professor on a research theme and will also contribute to education and committee work in a certain extent. She/he should finish the work with a doctoral degree in engineering science.

Foreseen research

The ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel construction researches in steel- and steel composite structures. The foreseen research project deals with the investigation of steel-timber structures and the respective load-bearing and failure behaviour. The different influencing parameters have to be investigated. Experimental works in the laboratory and numerical analyses with the help of scientific computational finite element programs (e.g. Sofistik or ABAQUS) have to be conducted.

What we expect from you…

* Diploma or Master degree in Civil Structural Engineering, Mechanics or an equivalent degree in engineering
* Willingness to enrol as PhD student at UL
* Basic competence in laboratory and analytical work is necessary
* Knowledge of nonlinear FE Analysis is mandatory
* Language: English, German or French will be seen as an asset
