WHO WE ARE
At IIT, we work enthusiastically to develop human-centered Science and Technology to tackle some of the most pressing societal challenges of our times and transfer these technologies to the production system and society. Our Genoa headquarter is strictly inter-connected with our 11 centers around Italy and two outer-stations based in the US for a truly interdisciplinary experience.
YOUR TEAM
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational, molecular, cellular and behavioural neuroscientists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research.
The Functional Neuroimaging Research Line is coordinated by Alessandro Gozzi, who has extensive experience in MRI, neurocomputation and neuropharmacology, as well as in the application of translational approaches to study neuropsychiatric brain disorders.
The selected candidate will work in the framework of the ERC-funded project ‘Neural drivers of functional disconnectivity in brain disorders’ (DisConn), Grant Agreement 802371.
The research activity in the lab aims to identifying the general neural and cellular principles governing the assembly of brain-wide functional connectivity. Our lab addresses these questions at the level of identified cell types by combining neural manipulations in rodents with electrophysiological recordings, functional MRI and cutting-edge neuro-computational approaches.
You will be working on collaborative and multidisciplinary research projects to understand how defined micro- and macro-circuits respond to synaptic neuromodulators to implement brain computations, both in health and disease. To this purpose, you will apply neurophysiological, optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches, together with state-of-the art imaging techniques to monitor neuromodulatory signals during behavior.
