The Center for Colloid and Surface Science (CSGI) – University of Florence is partner of the Project ‘ ‘Tackling the environmental concerns for deployinggeothermal energy in Europe’ — ‘GEOENVI’ (n. 818242), financed by the European Programme Horizon 2020, call H2020-LC-SC3-2018-2019-2020.

CSGI offers a position as an early-stage researcher in the framework of the GEOENVI project. The fellow will have the possibility to work at world–class scientific level in multidisciplinary and international teams.

Time period:  September 1st , 2020 – December 31st , 2020
Location:  University of Florence, Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale, Viale Morgagni 44, 50134, Firenze
Job Requirements:

CSGI is looking for a highly motivated and creative researcher with a Master Degree in the areas of Energy or Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering (or equivalent) with expertise in the following fields:

  • Use of simulation models and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) applied to energy conversion systems.
  • Knowledge of geothermal technologiesof different types: flash, dry steam and binary cycles and their environmental concerns.
  • Exergy and Exergo-environmentalmethodologies applied to trace back the normalized LCAresults to the performance of key componentsof geothermal energy conversion systems (wells, separators, heat exchangers, expanders, cooling towers and associated equipment).

Candidates must show a good attitude in working in a team, strong analytical and organizational skills.

Gross salary: up to EUR. 5.600 € for the time period above specified.
