The Soft Robotics for human cooperation and rehabilitation  (SoftBots) Research Line of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is seeking for two (2) highly motivated, Fellow researchers (holding a master degree). The SoftBots Lab is known for its cutting-edge research in the areas of collaborative robotics, human-robot interaction and collaboration, teleoperation, and assistive robotics.

The successful candidates will work on H2020 Reconcycle project (Grant Agreement No. 871352), which address the topic of designing and implementing a selfconfiguring autonomous robotic workcell for the specific Application Area of Electronic Waste Recycling, which so far has not reached any high degree of automation.

Reconcycle Partners are the following: Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IT), Institut Jozef Stefan (SLO), Georg-August-Universitat Gottinghenstiftung Offentlichen Rechts (DE), QBRobotics Srl (IT), Technische Universitaet Muenchen (DE), Electrocycling GMBH (DE).

The candidates will work on the following research topics:

  • Physical Human-robot collaboration and interaction
  • Robotic manipulation and interaction control

Required qualifications:

•    Master degree in mechatronics, robotics, control or related fields.

•    Good communication skills and ability to integrate within a multidisciplinary team.

•    Creative, proactive and collaborative attitude.

•    English language skills (written and oral).

Desired qualifications:

  • Knowledge of control tools, e.g. Matlab, Simulink.
  • Knowledge of C++ and ROS programming.
  • Knowledge of motor drivers and power PCB design.
  • Knowledge of sensing devices (e.g. position, force/torque), their properties and applications.
  • Knowledge of CAD system for robotic design (e.g. Creo).
  • Confidence with version control tools (specifically git).
