Project: 5GTOURS
Commitment & contract: collaboration contract, 1 years
Location: Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Genova, Italy
WHO WE ARE
At IIT we work enthusiastically to develop human-centered Science and Technology to tackle some of the most pressing societal challenges of our times and transfer these technologies to the production system and society. Our Genoa headquarter is strictly inter-connected with our 11 centres around Italy and two outer-stations based in the US for a truly interdisciplinary experience.
YOUR TEAM
You’d be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where mechanical, electrical, software engineers and robotics experts collaborate to carry out common research.
The Humanoid Sensing and Perception Research line is coordinated by Lorenzo Natale who has extensive experience in humanoid robotics and in particular artificial vision, tactile sensing and software architectures for robotics. You will contribute to the project 5GTOURS funded by the EU through the H2020 framework program. The goal of this project is the implementation of a robotic museum guide and it involves the development of algorithms for autonomous navigation in known environments and human-robot interaction using vision and technologies for natural language processing. It involves field tests involving end-users in a real environment.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
Develop the software that controls the behavior of the robot by orchestrating in real-time the components for perception, navigation and natural language processing;
Develop the dialog manager and its interaction with the other components of the robot software architecture;
Participate in the field test and experimental validation.
