In Città della Speranza, Istituto di Ricerca Pediatrica (IRP) – Padova, Italy directed by Prof. Antonella Viola (https://www.irpcds.org/ )
The Immunity and Angiogenesis lab, led by Prof. Antonella Viola PhD, at the Institute for Pediatric Research (Istituto di Ricerca Pediatrica, IRP), Department of Biomedical Science, University of Padova is seeking a pre- or post-doc fellow to join our team. With a focus on immune responses, inflammation and the endothelial compartment, the Immunity and Angiogenesis lab utilizes high-dimension, single cell technologies to study the effect of novel therapeutic approaches for cancer, infection and autoimmunity.
The candidate will have the possibility to closely collaborate with the Single Sell and Bioinformatics facility users, in a dynamic and challenging environment.
The Single Cell facility at IRP is equipped with the instrument BD Rhapsody Systems and utilizes the single cell analysis workflow of BD, for capturing, barcoding and synthetizing single cell cDNA libraries.
A knowledge of BD Rhapsody protocols, NGS data analysis, programming and basic statistics is necessary, but there is an expectation that most of the responsibilities can be learned on the job.
Major responsibilities:
- Data cleaning, analysis and visualization using various software or cloud-based platforms (e.g., SeqGeq, Seven Bridges)
- Development of data analysis pipelines involving statistical analyses, clustering analyses, dimension reductions, regression models etc.
- Understanding of NGS wet-lab protocols and computational methods for NGS analysis and the usage of public data resources
- Single-cell library preparation using the BD Rhapsody platform, experimental design and analysis
- Managing projects from conception to completion
- Assisting and training other lab members in data analysis
- Identifying and applying to fellowships and funding opportunities
- Writing grant application, scientific papers, reports and review.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in scientific discipline (biology, physics, math, statistics, etc.) is highly recommend, but not mandatory
- Extensive knowledge of statistics.
- Knowledge of R, Python and Bash programming
- Experience in biomedical lab techniques will be appreciated
- Motivated, organized and fast learner
Interested candidates shall email aviola.lab@gmail (reference: AV_PostDoc2022) a cover letter, a CV. Reference letters will be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
