The Role

The Department of Geography is seeking an excellent candidate to join our staff as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level 1). This person will join the team working on a recent SFI Discover award in conjunction with ESERO Ireland – an outreach project with national scope entitled “Space, Surveyors and Students: STEM and the Sustainable Development Goals (5*S)”. This project focusses on developing methods for introducing students to Copernicus data and is a collaboration between Maynooth University, TU Dublin, Esri Ireland, the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and Ordnance Survey Ireland. The person appointed will have a proven remote sensing skillset and experience of working with Copernicus imagery appropriate to career stage. Candidates must demonstrate the capability for independent, problem focussed thinking and be enthusiastic about showcasing space data such as Copernicus through WebGIS platforms such as ArcGIS Online. The successful candidate will be expected to visit project partners and schools all around the country and therefore a driving license and access to a car are essential.

Post-doctoral Researcher (2020) Salary Scale:                            €38,632 per annum (1 point with increment)
