Salary and conditions

We offer exciting and stimulating tasks in a strong international and interdisciplinary academic environment.

  • The 3 years grant period might be extended up to one year, possibly with duty work e.g. teaching.
  • Salaries are according to the collective agreement between the Minister of Finance and the Association of the University Teachers, around 430.000 Ikr pr mounth.
  • In connection to employment, the candidate must formally apply for the PhD program in Sociology at the University of Iceland. Admission to a doctoral program is a precondition for employment.

It is a prerequisite that the candidate can be present at the University on a daily basis, and is able to live in Iceland for the duration of the position, with mandatory fieldwork in a selection of the collaboration countries.

The documents that must accompany the application

• Cover letter (about 2 pages) stating why the applicant is interested in the project and what the applicant believes they will contribute to the design and processing of the project.

• Curriculum vitae (1-2 pages) stating work experience, qualifications related to the project and a bibliography if any.

• Certified copies of diplomas (BA/BSc and MA/MSc).

• Copy of master's thesis or other research paper(s) if relevant.

• Two letters of recommendation and information on how to contact the recommenders.

Other information

The application deadline for the position is 25. November, 2022.

The doctoral student starts as soon as possible and on June 1, 2023 at the latest.
