The Department of Engineering at Reykjavik University is looking for a Post Doctoral Researcher and a Ph.D. student to join the project GeoEjector: Connecting low and high pressure wells. The project is a collaboration between Reykjavik University and an industrial partner, Landsvirkjun National Power Company.
The main objective of this project is to develop a CFD model which could be utilized for designing ejector for geothermal applications by combining low- and high pressure wells with an aim to draw the low pressure steam up to the operating pressure.
There are two positions available: a three years Ph.D. position and a two years PostDoc position. The successful applicants will be based at Reykjavík University in Iceland. Both positions are paid positions under Rannis Technology Development Fund.
The successful candidates will contribute to:
- Design of laboratory setup for performing steam ejector performance analysis
- Laboratory scale measurements of the ejector as required for CFD model development
- CFD model development and simulation of two-phase geothermal fluid through an ejector
- Validation of the model to available field and laboratory measurements
Qualifications: The candidates should have postgraduate degrees in engineering, physics or related fields. The candidates must be self-organised with a strong ability to work autonomously and to have strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written). It is preferable if the applicant has a background or strong interest in:
- CFD modelling
- Geothermal utilization
- Thermodynamics
- Heat and mass transfer
- Laboratory work experience
Application: The application deadline is October 20, 2021. Please apply with a cover letter with a statement of interest, curriculum vitae and an academic transcript. Please arrange for two letters of recommendation.
All applicants must complete and submit the application online and attach the required documents. Any questions regarding working in Iceland or about Reykjavík University should be sent to [email protected] . Applications are only accepted through the recruitment website. All applications and inquiries about jobs are treated as confidential. Applications are confirmed by e-mail and if the applicant is eligible for the job in question, the applicant will be contacted.
Availability: The position is available from January 1, 2022, although this is negotiable.
Workplace: The successful applicant will work in our facilities in Reykjavík, Iceland. Reykjavík University has around 3.700 students and 250 faculty and employees in addition to numerous adjunct faculty in two schools: Technology and Social Sciences. We offer a welcoming and stimulating environment in which to work and live. The University is centrally located in Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland.
