The Functional Agrobiodiversity group at the Georg-August-University Göttingen is offering a

Researcher position (all genders welcome)

in a collaborative research project that targets partridge conservation and promotion of agrobiodiversity (Rebhuhn retten – Vielfalt fördern!). The project will be funded by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation.

The position should be filled as soon as possible, ideally 01.04.2021, and it is limited to 24 months, subject to the availability of funds. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (TV-L E13) with 50%, which corresponds to 19.9 working hours per week.

Your duties
The collaborative project will develop the scientific and practical basis for the implementation of multiple regional partridge protection projects in Germany. The focus of this researcher position will be on the analysis of regional agri-environment schemes that are implemented in different federal states of Germany with respect to their relevance for insect conservation. An extensive literature review will be conducted to assess the effects of different conservation and agri-environment measures on selected insect taxa (wild bees, hoverflies, butterflies and parasitoids). Based on the extensive literature review, recommendations for the design, implementation and management of insect conservation measures (e.g. flower strips) will be developed. Additionally, suitable monitoring methods for the selected insect taxa will be reviewed and guidelines for their use within the project will be developed. The outcomes of the reviews will guide the implementation of conservation measures for partridges and insects in the planned follow-up project comprising several regions in Germany. All research will be conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Conservation Biology and all project partners.
