Research Assistant (Postdoc or PhD position) in Full Time for the Chair of Cartography and Visual Analytics

The Chair of Cartography and Visual Analytics(LfK) at the TUM School of Engineering and Design, Department of Aerospace and Geodesy, is looking for a Research Assistant in full time to start from March 01, 2022 for up to 6 years

The international and interdisciplinary team at the Chair of Cartography and Visual Analytics is working on research topics such as spatial data integration, map services for indoor and outdoor navigation, design of AR/VR for spatial cognition, visual analytics in Citizen Science, and usability studies. The team coordinates the international master's program "Cartography" and is involved in teaching for further programs such as "Geodesy and Geoinformation" (B.Sc., M.Sc.), "Earth-Oriented Space Science and Technology" (M.Sc.), "Transportation Systems" (M.Sc.), and "Land Management and Geospatial Science" (M.Sc.).

Your responsibilities:
In addition to the participation in the self-management of the chair, we expect from you

in research:

• independent management, implementation and quality assurance of research projects
• initiation and submission of research proposals in the national and international framework
• participation and planning of international scientific conferences
• active scientific publications

in teaching:

• independent coordination of modules and examinations in above mentioned Bachelor's and Master's degree programs
• delivery of lectures in selected modules and supervision of lab exercises, projects and excursions
• Supervision of Bachelor and Master theses

• recently earned doctorate or above average university degree or Master's degree in cartography and visual analytics, geodesy, geoinformatics or in related fields of study
• proficient language skills in English and German
• enthusiasm for new topics and technologies
• ability to be self-motivated and to coordinate teamwork
• openness and mobility to work with international partners
• driving license class 3 or B

The full-time position is classified in E13 or higher according to TV-L according to the Wissenschafts-Zeitvertrags-Gesetz (WissZeitVG) up to a maximum of 6 years after graduation.
