The Helmholtz Young Investigator group "Innate Immunomodulation" is looking for highly motivated and skilled candidates for a Postdoctoral position in "Molecular regulation of type 2 immune responses"

Job description: The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the Helmholtz Young Investigator group "Innate Immunomodulation". Our team is exploring molecular mechanisms that control type 2 immune responses in the context of chronic type 2 inflammation (e.g. allergy and asthma) as well as during infection with helminth parasites.

The ideal candidate will be capable of coordinating a multifaceted research program and of working both independently and collaboratively in a team. The project will be a joint project with the Université de Lausanne (UNIL) (Department of Biochemistry) and the candidate is expected to spend extended periods of time in Lausanne. The successful applicant will explore the mechanisms by which lipid mediators induce and regulate type 2 immune responses in the context of allergy and helminth infection. The project will include the investigation of metabolic and epigenetic pathways that control type 2 inflammation in human patients and in experimental mouse models. An ideal applicant must have solid experience with state-of the art techniques in the study of immune responses (e.g. cell culture, mouse models of infection and/ or inflammation, next generation sequencing and flow cytometry). Additional highly desired skills include expertise in epigenetics and imaging.

Your qualifications: • Strong motivation, scientific curiosity and commitment to scientific excellence • PhD in life sciences or related disciplines, background in immunology and strong interest in medical / biological questions • Strong publication record with evidence of independence (at least one first-author publication in an international journal), experience with presenting data at conferences • Experience in mammalian cell culture • Experience with mouse models of infection and/ or inflammation • Knowledge and high interest in cellular regulatory mechanisms, metabolism and epigenetics • Interest in discussing and exploring potential project ideas with collaboration partners • Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment • Excellent command of the English language
