Our group is highly interested in mechanisms and regulation of gene expression. RNAs and RNA-protein complexes (RNPs) play key roles in many cellular processes and their malfunction leads to a multitude of diseases. Recent findings have further consolidated RNA modifications as key regulators of RNAs and RNPs in all major steps of gene expression and sparked the interest in their biogenesis and functions. We investigate their dynamics and regulatory roles in different cellular RNAs in human cells as well as changes in RNA modifications that lead to disease. We employ cutting-edge methods from biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, among them several powerful high-throughput approaches such as (PAR-)CRAC, CLASH, RNA-/RIP-seq and mass spectrometry. We also develop new, innovative methods for transcriptome-wide mapping of RNA modifications in close collaboration with organic chemists and structural biologists.

We offer a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment within a young, dynamic and international team in the excellent environment of the Göttingen research campus. A main focus of the work will be to further develop pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput functional genomics data, to establish tools for the integration of datasets obtained by different methods and to develop novel genome-wide approaches in close collaboration with other team members. Besides involvement in bioinformatics for various projects, active engagement in a complementary laboratory project is anticipated.

We are looking for an excellent candidate with a strong background in molecular biology and bioinformatics, specifically with experience in the application and development of computational tools and pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput data. The successful candidate will have interest in RNA biology, very good programming skills and a very good command of the English language.

The University Medical Center Göttingen is committed to professional equality. We therefore seek to increase the proportion of under-represented genders. Applicants with disabilities and equal qualifications will be given preferential treatment.
