The Microbial Biotechnology group located at the Leibniz-InstitutDSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH in Braunschweig, Germany, is now offering a

Postdoc position (m/f/d)

in: “Assessment of plastic biodegradation in the limnic ecosystem”.

The appointment will be until 12/2022. Remuneration is paid in accordance with the TV-L salary scale at level EG 13 monthly gross salary. The position is offered as full time and is not appropriate for part time work.

This third-party-funded project focuses on the biodegradation of biodegradable plastics in the freshwater environment under in-situ conditions. The postdoctoral researcher will comparatively analyze the microbial communities on different kinds of plastics from field tests using cultivation dependent and independent methods. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in microbiology or a similar research field. The ideal candidate has a good understanding of molecular ecology and microbial community analysis, next-generation-sequencing methods and the analysis of resulting data. A background in biodegradation/enzymology is a plus.
