The DFG - funded research unit Syntophagy “Membrane trafficking processes underlying presynaptic proteostasis” (5228) seeks 11 highly motivated

PhD students/doctoral students (f/m/d)

to join a team of researchers from Berlin, Bremen, Magdeburg and Haifa for a project dealing with synaptic autophagy funded by the DFG - FOR5228 Syntophagy “Membrane trafficking processes underlying presynaptic proteostasis”. The posts are available initially for a 3-year fixed-term period with a salary of TV-L E13 (65%) starting latest January 1st 2022.

About the project: Syntophagy will address the specific contributions of autophagy, proteasome-mediated and endolysosomal degradation to presynaptic proteostasis. The research projects deal with questions like how are presynaptic function and, importantly, plasticity regulated by autophagy? How is autophagy regulated locally? How do non-canonical functions of autophagosomes (e.g. signalling, exocytosis) impact on presynaptic development, maintenance and function? The participating labs cover a broad range of techniques and are at the technological forefront in molecular neuroscience research (see https://cloud.lin-magdeburg.de/s/FTFG4jE3m8ZLz3H for a list of projects, open positions and participating labs).
