The Interfaculty Institute for Microbiology and Infection Medicine (IMIT), Organismic Interactions at the University of Tübingen is offering a
PhD position (m/f/d)
(E 13 TV-L, 65%)
Our research is focusing on the cell biology of multicellular cyanobacteria and their intracellular communication system. The PhD student will investigate mechanism and structure of cell septal junctions (Weiss et al. Cell. 2019), using state-of-the-art techniques of genomics, cell imaging and protein biochemistry.
The IMIT and the Cluster of Excellence (cmfi) are providing a first-class research environment with a unique opportunity to conduct this research, by highly interactive groups with state-of-the-art methodological equipment.
The PhD position will be in the group of Iris Maldener and will be associated with the qualification programme of the Interfaculty Graduate School of Infection Biology and Microbiology (IGIM). The earliest possible start is the 1st of January 2020 and funded for three years.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent master degree in biological sciences, with a strong background in cellular microbiology, molecular biology tools and biochemistry. High motivation, dedication to research, experimental creativity, cooperative and self-organized working is expected. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
We offer a position for a PhD student (65% E 13 TV-L) in an international team and excellent equipped laboratory at the University of Tübingen.
