The Computer Engineering research group of the Institute of Computer Science invites applications for a

Research Assistant (m/f/d) (Salary level E 13 TV-L, 100 %)

starting at the earliest possible date. The contract is given for 3 years.

Your Duties:

  • Research in the area of adaptive heterogeneous architectures for machine learning in embedded systems
  • Teaching and support in the supervision of bachelor and master theses
  • Participation in the EU Horizon 2020 project "Very Efficient Deep Learning in IoT" (VEDLIoT). In this interdisciplinary project, Osnabrück University and its European partners are exploring new concepts to collaboratively solve complex deep learning applications on distributed IoT devices.
  • Opportunity to work towards a PhD is given and will be supported.

Required qualifications:

  • an above-average academic degree (Master, Diploma) in a relevant subject (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics)
  • in-depth knowledge in at least one of the areas of microelectronics, embedded systems, FPGA development, embedded programming, machine learning
  • good programming skills (C, C++, Python)
  • very good English language skills
  • independent, responsible and team-oriented working style

Desirable qualifications:

  • good knowledge of hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL, Verilog) or high-level synthesis
  • Knowledge in the field of GPU programming (OpenCL, CUDA)
  • Knowledge in using Deep Learning Frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • very good German language skills
