Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

We are hiring a
PhD student or Postdoc (m/f/d)
in Cell Biology.

Job Description
The group of Marino Zerial is looking for a highly-motivated candidate with strong background in cell biology to work on the delivery of oligonucleotide therapeutics.

Specific targeting and endosomal escape still remain crucial hurdles for successful implementation of macromolecular therapeutics. The know-how in endocytosis positions the group at the leading edge of the studies of macromolecule-based drug delivery systems.

This project aims to investigate the intracellular trafficking of non-viral gene delivery technologies. The uptake, trafficking and endosomal escape of nucleic acids will be analysed in cell lines and primary cells in vitro, and in mouse models in vivo, using quantitative light and electron microscopy approaches. This project will provide proof of concept for new platforms enabling cellular delivery of oligonucleotides in vitro and in vivo and demonstrate the therapeutic potential of the approach. The project will be carried out in collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company.

Your qualifications

The successful candidate should hold a degree in life sciences and have documented experience in cell biology and fluorescence microscopy imaging. Experience in in vivo studies with mice will be an advantage. The candidate should be able to interact with members of an interdisciplinary team of cell biologists, physicists, chemists and computer scientists, work in a competitive international environment and possess excellent communication and data presentation skills (English is the working language at the MPI-CBG).

Our offer
The full-time position is available immediately for an initial period of 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TVöD Bund (salary agreement for public service employees).

Candidates interested in performing their PhD work on the above project should apply directly to the International Max Planck Research School for Cell, Developmental and Systems Biology (https://www.imprs-celldevosys.de/ ), following the guidelines of the program.

Postdoctoral candidates should submit their complete application including the names of three referees by 16.08.2021 via our online application system stating Code 2021-PostDoc-Cellbiology-1040 at https://recruitingapp-2443.umantis.com/Vacancies/462/Application/CheckLogin/2?lang=eng
