‘Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitsschutz e.V. Dortmund’ (legal entity name) is a research institution institutionally funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the sponsor of ’Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors at TU Dortmund’ (IfADo). IfADo explores the risks and potentials of modern work in interdisciplinary approaches. We combine the disciplines of Ergonomics, Immunology, Toxicology, Psychology and Neurosciences.

The Department of Ergonomics has a vacancy for a

PhD student (m/f/d)

to be filled (75%) at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to 3 years. The qualification goal is a doctorate. If a diploma or master's degree is not yet available, temporary employment as a research assistant may be considered.

Your duties:

  • Scientific work in a project studying the neurocognitive principles of working memory, with a focus on investigating how motivational factors affect memory performance and attentional processes
  • Data collection will be done on the basis of EEG experiments
  • The locally available (f)MRI may be used in support of the localization of specific brain activity measured via EEG

Your profile:

  • Diploma/Master's degree in psychology, neuroscience or a related field
  • Good knowledge of natural sciences
  • A high level of interest in issues related to basic and applied neuroscience research
  • Very good knowledge of English language
  • Very good methodological skills
  • Previous experience in the acquisition and analysis of EEG data (not mandatory)
