The department Knowledge Technologies for Social Sciences (WTS)

conducts research at the intersection of information retrieval,

knowledge graphs, human information interaction and machine learning as

foundation for innovative web portals and platforms for the search and

use of research data. WTS innovations are based on a state-of-the-art

software stack and research-based innovations in the aforementioned

fields. 

In the context of an international research project AI4Sci — A hybrid AI approach for understanding science in online discourse,

WTS addresses the challenge of providing hybrid AI methods

for natural langauge processing (NLP), namely for tracing and

interpreting scientific claims in online discourse, for instance from

news and social media platforms, as a means to tackle and understand

misinformation in society. 


The position provides the opportunity to enroll as PhD

student at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, supervised by Prof.

Dr. Stefan Dietze (Scientific Director of WTS and Professor for Data

& Knowledge Engineering at HHU).
