The Department of Radiology is an internationally renowned group at the forefront of clinical imaging research, focusing on new
tracers and biomarkers as well as research utilizing novel imaging technology as the latest generation of Positron Emission
Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) scanners and multimodality imaging equipment.
We are the first university hospital in Germany to install a novel total-body PET/CT scanner, which is currently available at only a
handful of research sites worldwide. Due to its high sensitivity and precision, this state-of-the art scanner has the potential to
leverage and define the future of molecular imaging.
We’re currently looking for a PhD student (f/m/d) for our Medical Physics group that shares our passion for medical imaging and is
eager to pioneer the field with the total-body PET/CT scanner. In addition, the candidate should be enthusiastic, dedicated and eager
to work and evolve in a highly interdisciplinary environment with chemists, biologists, engineers, physicists, and physicians. The ideal
candidates should hold a diploma or Master degree in computer science, informatics, physics, biomedical engineering or related
fields. The successful candidate should have an interest in analysing medical imaging data (especially PET and CT), as well as planning
and performing experiments using the total-body PET/CT system. The candidate has strong programming skills (preferably MATLAB),
further experience in medical image analysis and machine learning are an advantage. The candidate should be willing to collaborate
with partners from academia and industry.
Opportunities: We offer to work on a high scientific level in a young, experienced and well-funded research team with an excellent
interdisciplinary infrastructure providing state-of-the art life science and clinical environment. We offer the opportunity to publish in
leading international journals and present the research to an international scientific community. Furthermore, we are connected to a
strong network providing an excellent platform to cooperate with local (e.g. our Preclinical and Radiopharmacy Department),
national and international research labs.
Interested candidates should apply with a complete CV (including photograph and date of birth), all certificates and grades of
University educations and potential jobs/interns as well as the names and contact details of at least one referee (former
professor/advisor/mentor) until 01.09.2022. The contract will be set up for 1 year with the plan for further extension. Application
costs can unfortunately not be covered.
