The institute of Fluid Dynamics is conducting basic and applied research in the fields of thermo-fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics in order to improve the sustainability, the energy efficiency and the safety of industrial processes.

As part of the Institute, the Department of Transport processes at interfaces invites applications as PhD Student (f/m/d) Photogrammetry in froth flotation.

The position will be available from 1 January 2023. The employment contract is limited to three years.

Your tasks:
- Set up and calibrate a suitable image recording for photogrammetry of froth surfaces
- Investigation of the relationship between the rheology of the froth and the surface shape during froth flow over a weir
- Investigation of the correlation between the surface shape of the foam and the recovery of valuable particles during froth flotation
- Integrating these correlations into a machine learning environment for controlling the froth flotation cell

Your profile:
- Very good graduation from a university in the field of Physics, Information Technology, Electrical, Mechanical or Process Engineering
- High motivation for self-dependent research in the field of foam flow and measurement
- Preferably knowledge/experience in foam, optical measurement technique or machine-learning
- Team-minded, high interest in cooperations on experimental, numerical or theoretical topics with local colleagues and international partners
- Structured and goal-oriented organisation of work
