Job description:

DESY-Zeuthen

The position is within in the ATLAS group at DESY in Zeuthen. The group works on top-physics, di-Higgs searches and searches for new particles, especially dark matter. On the technical side the group works on flavour tagging, electron and photon identification and luminosity measurement. For the LHC upgrade the group builds silicon strip modules to be used in one of the endcaps of the new silicon tracker. The successful candidate will work on searches exploiting proton-proton collision final states involving low energy (soft) b-jets. Such particles represent characteristic signals of certain new physics models, such as Supersymmetric models with nearly-degenerate third generation squarks and neutralinos or cascade decays of light Higgs partners. In addition, he or she will contribute to the assembly of the silicon strip modules.

About your role:

  • Analysis of ATLAS data
  • Contributions to the soft-b-tagging software
  • Contributions to the construction of silicon strip modules

About you:

  • Master`s degree in physics
  • Interest in data analysis and detector construction
  • Some experience in python or root or in detector hardware would be an advantage
