The Social Neurobiology Lab at the German Primate Center (DPZ) is offering from April 2024:

Two PhD positions (f/m/d)

The positions are initially available for three years. We are flexible when it comes to the start date, and contract extensions are possible. The successful applicants will be accepted into a graduate school of the Göttingen campus.

The Social Neurobiology Lab investigates the neuronal basis of social connection in humans and non-human primates. We use behavioral testing and neuronal recordings. One project aims to examine the behavioral and neuronal mechanisms of prosocial behavior and group cooperation in both marmosets and humans. The second project aims to investigate the neuronal and behavioral mechanisms of social preferences using behavioral testing, functional imaging, and chemogenetics. In this project, you will closely collaborate with the Perception and Plasticity Group led by Caspar Schwiedrzik and Michael Ortiz-Rios of the Functional Imaging lab . For more information, visit our website, baezlab.co

The Ph.D. students should have a degree (M.Sc. or equivalent in neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, or similar), a passion for social interactions and their neuronal basis, and strong quantitative and experimental skills. Prior experience with data analyses, behavioral testing, imaging, programming, or molecular biology is an asset but optional. We offer a pleasant work environment, modern work equipment, flexible and family-friendly working hours, and the possibility to occasionally work from home or remotely.

We welcome diversity and applications from qualified people regardless of their ethnic, cultural, and social origins, regardless of their gender, religion, ideology, disability, age, or sexual identity. Applicants with disabilities and equal qualifications will be given preferential consideration. We kindly ask you to indicate any disabilities in your application.

The appointment at DPZ is in accordance with the civil service regulations. The salary classification follows the TV-L (public service).
