Offer Description

We offer a PhD position within in the SoftMatter group at the University of Münster. The goal is to characterize and understand stimuli-responsive emulsions using atomic force microscopy.

The project will build on our recent work (Interactions between interfaces dictate stimuli-responsive emulsion behaviour | Nature Communications ) and will include the following tasks:

  • Preparation and characterization of stimuli-responsive polymeric particles and emulsions stabilized by them.
  • Establishment and further development of advanced measurement techniques based on atomic force microscopy.
  • Development and optimization of experimental protocol to investigate stabilization and destabilization mechanisms of switchable emulsions.
  • Analysis of complex experimental datasets, including software-assisted evaluation, to elucidate the interactions governing stimuli-responsive emulsions.
  • Documentation and presentation of results at scientific conferences.
  • Publication of results in scientific journals.
  • The position is tied to working towards a doctorate.

We are offering a 3 year PhD position (salary level E13TV-L 67%), with the possibility to extend. The position is available as soon as possible.
