Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.


conduct original theoretical physics research into quantum algorithms for combinatorial gate assignment problems and their implementation on Rydberg quantum computing platforms

study and analyse the performance and quality of quantum algorithms for gate assignment problems on ultracold atom quantum computing platforms

develop classical software to simulate and the developed quantum algorithms and investigate their scaling with system size when running on current generation quantum computing and annealing devices

manage the research project on a day-to-day basis and regularly report progress to D. Jaksch and project partners

write research papers for internationally refereed journals and presenting results at national and international conferences

collaborate with industrial project partners and with theory and experimental academic colleagues to contribute towards the overarching goals of the research project

contribute to the writing of project reports as required and assisting with other administrative duties as required


Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

excellent knowledge of quantum mechanics, quantum computing and quantum information

familiarity with quantum computing platforms is an advantage

expertise in numerical methods for classical optimization is desired

a proven track record in conducting physics research, e.g. through an MSc thesis, ideally in theoretical physics and/or quantum information theory
