PhD position in the field of "Cell Therapy with TCR-engineered T-cell" (m/w/d), E13/65 %

Updated: 3 months ago

16.01.2024, Wissenschaftliches Personal

We are looking for a PhD candidate (m/w/d) who shares our enthusiasm about the clinical value of TCR-engineered T-cell products and is interested in working on our new project entitled “Non-viral editing for the manufacturing of TCR-T cells to prevent virus-related diseases in immunocompromised patients”

Our profile

Our mission is to contribute to the accessibility of adoptive cell therapy with TCR-engineered T cells by developing T-cell manufacturing processes suitable for clinical application, in addition to exploring novel immunotherapeutic approaches. To answer these questions, we have developed innovative CRISPR-Cas9-mediated cell engineering methodologies, alongside high-throughput identification of clinically relevant TCRs. Within this DZIF-funded project, we will use and further improve these technologies to identify highly functional virus-specific TCRs. These TCRs will be employed to generate GMP-compliant T-cell products, aiming to prevent life-threatening viral reactiva-tion in immunocompromised patients.

Your profile

- Master degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or similar with outstanding result
- High motivation and commitment to scientific excellence
- Enthusiasm for basic science and cell engineering
- Experience in immunology, cell biology or cell editing is a plus
- Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
- Excellent presentation, scientific writing and communication skills

Your tasks

- Analysis and prioritization of viral epitopes for TCR therapy
- Identification of virus-specific TCRs via scRNA-seq
- Preclinical functional characterization of candidate TCRs for clinical translation
- Developing screening assays for evaluating TCR specificity and functionality
- Participation in the preparatory work (e.g. IMPD) for initiating a Phase I clinical trial

We offer

- Ambitious and innovation-oriented team committed to the clinical translation of TCR-engineered T-cell products
- Close collaborations with several laboratories at TUM and external partners
- Well-equipped laboratory in our institute close to Munich city center
- PhD position starting on April 1st 2024 or earlier (65 % TV-L E13)

Application

Are you excited to bring TCR T-cells into the clinic? Great! We are looking forward to your email application (CV, letter of motivation and references in one document) until February 9th 2024. TUM seeks to increase the portion of female employees. Qualified females are, therefore, explicitly encouraged to apply.

The position is suitable for disabled persons. Disabled applicants will be given preference in case of generally equivalent suitability, aptitude and professional performance.
