The Collaborative Research Center TRR-386 “Hyperpolarization in Molecular Systems”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), is centered at the Leipzig University and the Chemnitz University of Technology with partners at RWTH Aachen University, University of Augsburg, Technical University of Munich, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, University of Rostock.
The TRR-386 will focus on the controlled realization of transient spin order of electrons or magnetic nuclei, i.e., of hyperpolarization, in molecular systems. This is expected to have a major impact in three research areas of chemistry and physics, namely magnetic resonance, spintronics and spin-chemistry which will be merged. To this end, the TRR-386 will contribute to the fundamental understanding of generation of electronic and nuclear spin hyperpolarization, its transport through molecular structures and its control. We expect implications towards applications for example in medicine, multifunctional electronics, and efficient chemical catalysis.

The fixed-term employment for 36 months (extendable for up to 9 more months) follows the Act of Temporary Employment in Higher Education (WissZeitVG) and the Saxon Law on Universities (SächsHSG) in the respective current version.
Selection will occur according to suitability, qualification and professional performance. Your tasks comprise
- Fabrication of devices with lateral and vertical geometry based on chiral molecules, oligomers and their heterostructures
- Electrical and magnetotransport characterization
- Determination of the charge carrier mobility and spin diffusion length
- Correlation with structural properties
The position aims at your further scientific development and qualification. Your profile
- Completed scientific university studies in the field of physics, or comparable disciplines, which opens the access to the corresponding qualification level
- Solid knowledge in solid state physics as well as organic semiconductors
- Knowledge in electrical characterization methods is an advantage
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Responsible and independent work
- Commitment and willingness to work in a team
- Structured and goal-oriented way of working
