Offer Description

We (https://www.preissllab.org/ ) have an opening for one PhD student (fully funded for 3 years, start of PhD project in September 2023) as part of the structured PhD program RTG2344 MeInBio. The PhD project will focus on identifying the dynamics of spatial organization of cell types as well as activity patterns of transcription factors and chromatin regulators associated with heart failure pathogenesis through integrative analysis of single cell transcriptomes, epigenomes and subcellular spatial transcriptomes.

The PhD candidate will be a member of the MeInBio PhD research training group (RTG2344, funded by the German Research Foundation) and profit of their structured training curriculum. MeInBio aims at a dual education in bioinformatics and wet laboratory approaches to explore the spatio-temporal dynamics of gene regulation using high-throughput and high-resolution methods (www.meinbio.uni-freiburg.de ).

Qualifications:

·       Master’s degree in any field with strong interest in gene regulation and high dimensional data analysis.

·       Experience with analysis and/or generating epigenomic datasets (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, CUT&Tag) and single cell genomics datasets (single cell RNA-seq, single cell ATAC-seq) are preferred, but not required.

·       Candidates with experience in both wet and dry lab are highly encouraged to apply.

·       Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

We offer:

·       An exciting modern research project in a well-equipped laboratory using state-of-the-art technologies.

·       Intensive supervision secured by a thesis advisory committee.

·       Regular exchange with a tandem laboratory to ensure low-threshold interdisciplinary communication.

·       Regular courses in bioinformatics and wet laboratory techniques as offered by the RTG2344 MeInBio.

·       Additional “soft skills” courses and networking possibilities with all RTG MeInBio members for scientific exchange.

·       Yearly funds for conference visits.

Interested candidates please send one pdf with following documents:

1) Motivation letter including your research interests

2) CV

3) Contact information for two to three references
