The Chair of Responsible Data Science at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) offers an exciting Ph.D. opportunity focused on the cutting-edge field of Data Generation using advanced AI technologies such as generative AI models. This research project will address pertinent challenges in various data-centric and regulated applications.

The Chair of Responsible Data Science at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) offers an exciting Ph.D. opportunity in the area of Data Generation using advanced AI technologies such as generative AI models. This research project will address pertinent challenges in various data-centric and regulated applications.

The Ph.D. candidate will conduct comprehensive research to explore innovative methods for generating highly realistic structured data under specific technical and regulatory constraints. This project will encompass:

• A thorough literature review and analysis to establish the state of the art.
• Data acquisition and analysis to identify adequate data sources and benchmarking techniques.
• Development of model architectures and training concepts tailored to enhancing synthetic data generation.
• Rigorous evaluation and iterative optimization of the generated data models.
• Detailed documentation and publication of research findings in leading academic journals and conferences.

We seek highly motivated and talented individuals passionate about AI, Data Science, and their responsible applications. Ideal candidates will have:

• An M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, C++, etc.
• A solid foundation in generative AI, machine learning, data mining, or related areas.
• An interest in data governance, regulation, and responsible AI.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Proficiency in German (C1 or comparable) and English, both written and spoken.

As a Ph.D. researcher in our team, you will:

• Conduct pioneering research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Social Sciences.
• Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment with leading Artificial Intelligence and Data Science experts.
• Have access to state-of-the-art facilities and a stimulating research setting.
• Participate in interaction with our industrial partners. 
• Participate in teaching and supervising activities, enriching your academic and professional skills.
