The Institute of Geophysics and Meteorology of the University of Cologne invites applications for the PhD Position “High resolution model evaluation with self-supervised neural network approach targeted over the Alps” within the project ”Exploiting spatiotemporal cloud patterns to advance severe storms process understanding and detection“ (EXPATS) as part of the Italy-Germany science-4-services network in weather and climate (IDEA-S4S).

The position is available from the earliest possible starting date on a part-time basis (75%/29,87 hours per week). It is limited up to 3 years with the possibility for the extension for another year. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
