About us

In the division AI4Health, we investigate methodological questions in the domains of self-supervised/label-efficient learning as well as explainability of deep neural networks (XAI) with particular focus on applications in the biomedical domain. Further information on the division is available at https://uol.de/en/ai4health ..

About the position

The position is part of the three-year project "SonicGuard", which aims to assess the possibility to distinguish physiological bowel sounds from pathological bowel sounds based on long-term measurements using acoustic sensors placed close to the body. It is a cooperative project between the division AI4Health and the clinic for visceral surgery (lead by Prof. Dirk Weyhe) at the Pius hospital Oldenburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology (IDMT), institute branch Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology (HSA). The research work will focus on supporting the collection of an appropriate dataset and the analysis of the collected data using machine learning methods with regard to the above research question and related topics. In this context also current methods of self-supervised learning and explainable AI are to be tested/evaluated/extended. The position allows working for a doctoral degree, which is also strongly encouraged.
