PhD in Green Industrial Policy Design (m / f / d) at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology, Professorship for Public Policy for the Green Transition

The Professorship of Public Policy for the Green Transition (PPGT) focuses on designing and evaluating policies for the green transition worldwide. The group uses a variety of methods from automated data analyses (e.g. via machine learning) to qualitative analyses (e.g. via interviews) to support ambitious policies for climate and energy transitions.

This position

Green Industrial Policies (GIP), that is policies directed at specific technologies and industries to advance the green transition, have become a priority of governments in China, the US and the EU. While such policies can be transformative by lowering technology cost and spurring deployment, there is currently little guidance on how to design and deploy them. This PhD will develop and analyze a large dataset on firms and jobs to map the evolution of industries, jobs, and economic clusters in transition and to design adequate green industrial and labor market policies. It will contribute to ongoing policy debates in the EU and beyond on the impact and design of GIP.
