The Institute of Molecular Immunology at the Technical University of Munich in close cooperation with the M4I-Institute at Maastricht University in the Netherlands seeks to fill a PhD position in molecular imaging of tissues with mass spectrometry and spatialOmics. The two institutes have joined forces to unravel cell-specific signatures (lipid and metabolites) in tissues using a MALDI-2 based high resolution imaging approach (Tims-TOF-Flex).

We are searching for a PhD candidate with a strong interest in technology development and ideally prior experience in mass-spec analysis or high-content data analysis. The PhD-position is financed for a period of three years by TUM-internal funds. Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L). TUM strives to raise the proportion of women in its workforce and explicitly encourages applications from qualified women. Applications from disabled persons with essentially the same qualifications will be given preference.
We are offering innovative technologies in mass spectrometric analysis, single cell analysis and bioinformatic analysis including novel machine learning approaches in combination with a thriving research atmosphere in a highly interdisciplinary team at TUM and at M4i in Maastricht.
Please send us your application including a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae and two references. Please address your application to Prof. Percy Knolle ( and Prof. Ron Heeren ( before july 31st 2022, or send it to Prof. Percy Knolle, Institute of Molecular Immunology and Experimental Oncology, TUM School of Medicine and Health, University Hospital München Rechts der Isar, Ismaningerstr. 22 81675 München.
