The Nano- and Microrobotics lab is looking for an exceptional PhD candidate to further the development active biomaterials for stem cell research.

About us

In the Nano- and Microrobotics lab we investigate cellular processes in tissue using multifunctional nanodevices. We use nanotechnology, biomaterials, and microfluidics to engineer our technologies and seek to develop new diagnostic lab-on-a-chip platforms for regenerative medicine as well as cancer.

About the project

One of our current research interests is active biomaterials for stem cell mechanobiology. The project involves developing hydrogel based biomaterials with varying biomechanical properties and implementing them to investigate stem cell behavior.

Your tasks
  • Designing novel in vitro models
  • Synthesizing and characterizing biomaterials
  • Cell culture
  • Investigating mechanotransduction in stem cells
  • Image and data analysis
  • Assistance in laboratory development

  • Master’s degree in biology or chemistry
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Passion for multidisciplinary research
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Prior experience in chemistry lab work, cell culture, and data analysis are not required but are advantageous.

We offer

We offer a researcher position as academic staff in pursuit of a doctoral degree in the Nano- and Microrobotics Lab at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The initial duration of your contract will be 3 years with the possibility to extend it. You will have continuous support from fellow team members and access to all necessary infrastructure (i.e. lab equipment) to conduct your research.
