Open PhD positions at the Department of Computer Engineering of the Technical University of Munich under the supervision of Prof. Cristina Piazza. The PhD candidate will work on challenging projects to develop new robotic arms for dexterous manipulation, under the field of assistive rehabilitation robotics.

Are you interested in developing new joints, extending state-of-the-art of soft robotic technologies, and prepared to take-on real-life problems in human studies?

Join us in a team that considers the design of robots bioinspired by human motor control studies and natural features, develop advanced algorithms for brain-machin interfacing and create virtual platforms for rehabilitation and enhancement of the embodiment of bionic devices. As the capabilities of artificial limbs grows and the growing interest in the adoption of artificial intelligence, the problems of finding feasible robotic solutions to closely collaborate with humans in the execution of complex and dynamic task are becoming more and more apparent.
The main tasks for the PhD student are to work on mechatronic design of robotic joints and architecture mechanisims that improve existing manipulation performance of end-effectors or human-robot interaction. Moreover, the PhD position will required the participation in academic activities, such as Bachelor and Master's Thesis supervision, and our courses at TUM. The position will be primarily based in the TUM Garmisch Partenkirchen Campus.
