Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The Department of Clinical Chemistry at the University Medical Center Göttingen is seeking:

  • Specialization: to study the role of blood vessels in cancer progression
  • Limitation: we are offering the position for three years
  • Working period: part-time (25,025 h/week)

  • Vacancy from 06.12.2022
  • Application deadline: 31.01.2023

Scientifically, the Department of Clinical Chemistry focuses on how blood vessels control their microenvironment and how this contributes to organ function and disease. By combining cell culture and animal models with modern omics technologies, we aim to deeply investigate how the organ-specific endothelium is altered by obesity and cancer and how this subsequently contributes to organ function and disease progression (Wieland, Cancer Cell 2017, Jabs, Circulation 2018, Hasan, EMBO Mol Med 2021, Alsina Sanchis, Cancer Res 2022).

In her/his project, the highly motivated PhD candidate will work on the characterization of cancer-induced systemic changes on endothelial cell transcription, protein expression and metabolism (project #1) and its consequences on muscle and adipose tissue function (project #2). The PhD students will be trained in primary cell culture including organoids, genome manipulation, cell imaging, as well as cellular and molecular biology techniques.
