Employer : Institut de Chimie Radicalaire UMR 7273 CNRS

Position and assignments

Subject : Synthesis of near-infrared dyes, purification and characterization of organic molecules

Location : Institut de Chimie Radicalaire, service 552, Faculté des Sciences de Saint Jérôme, Avenue Escadrille Normandie Niemen, 13397 Marseille Cedex 20.

The internship will be completed on the Campus of Saint Jerome.

Job description : Position is funded by a grant from the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR). EXPO-PHOTO project explores new polymerization strategies using near Infrared dyes as photoinitiators of polymerization.

Starting date : September 2022

Mission and Duties

The ICR laboratory (UMR 7273) is a research unit founded in January 1st 2012 by Aix-Marseille University and the CNRS. The ICR laboratory unites a large spectrum of pluridisciplinary competences. This laboratory is structured around 7 teams working at the interfaces between radical and organic chemistry, material chemistry, biology. CROPS (Chimie Radicalaire Organique et Polymère de Spécialité) team is a multidisciplinary team having a perfect expertise in the development of methodologies for complex macromolecular architecture synthesis able to self-nanostructurate. The targeted materials find applications in various areas like energy, environment, electronics or biomaterials. Parallel to the conventional polymerization approach, the expertise of our group has been extended to the design of photoinitiators of polymerization.

EXPO-PHOTO project funded by the ANR agency synergistically associates the expertise and innovation potential of different academic partners of multidisciplinary competences (polymer chemistry, material science, organic chemistry).

The main objectives of the post-doctoral researcher will be to design new near-infrared dyes absorbing in the 800-1200 nm range. Parallel to the synthesis of dyes, the candidate will also develop original syntheses of photo and/or thermo-cleavable alkoxyamines.
