Location: Tremblay en France, LE DE FRANCE
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 28 Oct 2021

Laboratory and tutelage :

Laboratory of Exercise Biology for Performance and Health (LBEPS)

University of Evry-Paris Saclay and the Armed Forces Biomedical Research Institute (IRBA) from Armed Forces health service (SSA)

Host team :

New GEnopole Incentive Thematic Action research team (ATIGE) which has just been created by Genopole Evry and the collaboration of the Grand Paris Sport cluster.

This new team is interested in the effects of different physical exercises on mouse models of muscular dystrophies. It develops a preclinical research program focused on the study of systemic and muscular metabolic adaptations as well as on the study of cellular and molecular modifications induced by precision exercises in dystrophic muscles treated or not with gene therapy.

In close collaboration with Genethon research teams and with the development of new gene therapy approaches, the ATIGE team aims to understand the relationships between physical exercises, metabolic adaptations, and treatment efficacy. The long-term objective is to implement new combinatorial and/or synergistic therapeutic approaches in the clinical management of patients with muscular dystrophies.

Position profile:

The post-doctoral researcher should have a thesis in Cellular and Molecular Biology applied to the muscle and/or viral vectors. A first post-doctoral experience may be a plus but is not required. He or she should know how to conduct a preclinical research project in autonomy combining systemic, histological, and molecular approaches.

Initial experience in the use of viral vectors and snRNAseq or other –omic analysis approach is required.

The candidate must be motivated, creative and proactive to be able to install a research project in a newly created team. He or she must have good organizational qualities, must demonstrate rigor, and must have strong interpersonal and public speaking skills to lead a collaborative project involving several teams and research centers with complementary specialties.

The candidate must have a strong sense of responsibility. Fluency in French is not mandatory.

Finally, the laboratory is located at the University of Evry-Paris Saclay (Evry-Courcouronnes), where the cellular and molecular approaches of the project will be carried out. All in vivo approaches on animal models will be carried out at the animal facility on the IRBA site (Brétigny-sur-Orge, 10 minutes by car from Evry, 10 minutes from Brétigny RER C train station).
