The Institut Photovoltaïque d'Ile-de-France (IPVF) is one of the institutes of the energy transition (ITE) supported by the investment plan for the future (PIA), and aims at the development of photovoltaic energy conversion. IPVF is based on a strong partnership between public national laboratories and private partners (joint research programs).
IPVF has the ambition to become one of the five largest PV research laboratories in the world. The IPVF campus is located on the Plateau de Saclay and offers a 4000 m² clean room laboratory environment.
The laboratory's research themes focus on the design, production and analysis of innovative solar cells with potential new applications. Experimental research is pursued on a shared laboratory platform which includes thin film growth equipment (MBE, co-evaporation of metals and semiconductors under UHV, sputtering (PVD), PECVD, ALD, and soft chemistry methods), and characterization tools (SEM-FEG, GDOES, XRD, Raman, XRF, AFM, and various optoelectronic analytical tools).
