PhD program at Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille (LAM)

LAM has research and training facilities in observational, instrumental and theoretical astronomy. It is a strong participant in space and ground instrumentation and astronomical surveys. Positions are available in the following research areas: cosmology and large scale structure, galaxy formation and evolution, star formation and interstellar medium, stars and extrasolar planets, solar system and planetary formation, and astronomical optics and instrumentation.

Applicants must have a solid physics background, and a Master degree or equivalent by the time the position starts. Previous experience and skills will be important criteria for the selection. The fellowships are available for 3 years.

Students interested by one or more projects have to contact the PhD supervisor(s) as soon as possible, and before preparing the formal application. After discussion, students have to send their application directly to the supervisor(s). Candidates applying to several projects have to specify priorities in their choice.

Some positions are fully funded, other are subject to a competitive process in our doctoral school. The deadlines are typically in spring, but are subject to changes. They will be announced as soon as possible. Please check the LAM web page for regular updates.
