Offer Description
The project will take place within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant ERC-2021-ADG
(101054004): ZEOLIghT” Dual challenges in the discovery and sustainability of nanozeolites: controlling defect sites and structural flexibility- CNRS managed by Dr. Svetlana Mintova ( Director of Recherche, CNRS, LCS UMR 6506, Caen). The work will be co-supervised by Prof. Matthieu Denoual. The work will be carried out at LCS - Laboratoire Catalyse & Spectrochimie (https://www.lcs.ensicaen.fr ) located in Caen (Normandy).
The LCS has built its reputation on the preparation of zeolites and related porous materials, operando spectroscopy and catalysis. Combining very strong poles in synthesis of porous materials and spectroscopy. The selected candidate will be attached to UMR6506.
Synthesis of flexible nanozeolites with small-to-large pores and cages
The candidate will focus on the synthesis of nanosized zeolites with single framework structures and intergrown phases by changing the chemical (type of pore stabilizers, cations, solvents and alkalinity) and physical (temperature, time, agitation) parameters with special attention on the structural flexibility.
Flexible nanozeolites containing different T-atoms and extra-framework inorganic cations with abundant water to control the population of cationic sites and different T-atoms will be studied.
Flexible nanozeolites with intergrown phases with similar SBUs will be the focus of the study too. The intergrowth-based flexibility will be achieved by crystallization of frameworks with similar secondary building unites SBUs. Small-to-large pore nanozeolites will be synthesized using the green (OSDA-free) approach in the presence of mixed inorganic cations. The effect of multiple inorganic cations and excess of buffers on promoting a possible synergistic cooperation between T-sources and cations will be studied.
The candidate with experience in synthesis, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and spectroscopy is highly desired. The high-throughput synthesis facilities will be used followed by classical hydrothermal approaches. Comprehensive spectroscopic characterizations (NMR, in-situ IR, Raman) combined with macroscopic (XRD, HRSEM, TG, Physisorption) characterizations will be carried out.
