Offer Description
The person recruited will work at LAPSCO with Delphine Martinot (PR UCA), thesis director, in close collaboration with each member of the SCOPIL project: Ludovic Ferrand (DR CNRS), Magali Ginet (PR UCA), Armelle Nugier (MC UCA), Sandrine Redersdorff (MC UCA), as well as a postdoctoral fellow who will start his or her contract in October 2024.
The Laboratoire de Psychologie Sociale et Cognitive (Laboratory of Social and Cognitive Psychology, LAPSCO–UMR UCA-CNRS 6024) is offering a postdoctoral position for 12 months to work on inclusive language and more specifically on eye movements during the reading of inclusive forms in sentence processing.
The candidate will work at the LAPSCO and will join a project funded by the French ANR, entitled "Social and Cognitive Psychology of Inclusive Language" (SCOPIL) with Ludovic Ferrand and Delphine Martinot as principal investigators. In this project, we examine how cognitive and social psychological processes shape acceptance or rejection of inclusive language among adults and adolescents. To achieve this aim, we articulate the knowledge of cognitive psychology on reading and that of social psychology on intentions on one hand and on intergroup identity dynamics and legitimizing ideologies of the status quo on the other hand.
In Axis B of the ANR project (which corresponds to this post), our analysis will take place at intergroup and ideological levels (Doise, 1982) when we examine the need to protect gender identity and rationalize unequal social statuses between men and women in attitudes to inclusive langage.
Objectives
In SCOPIL Axis B, the aim is twofold. Firstly, we will examine whether and how contextual prescriptions for the use or non-use of inclusive language can generate processes related to gender identity (positional level of analysis) or processes of gender status quo maintenance (ideological level of analysis). Secondly, we will study the processes that can lead to the acceptance of inclusive language.
Method:
Correlational studies will examine whether personal beliefs predict attitudes towards inclusive language.
Experimental studies will examine whether contextual prescriptions regarding the use of inclusive language are likely to modify attitudes towards it and intention to use it.
Desired profil
The candidate should hold a Master's degree in Psychology, with a good knowledge of intergroup relations, and in particular of identity dynamics and the legitimization of the social status quo. A profile with excellent knowledge of social psychology will be preferred.

-Systematic review of literature on the subject
