Research assistant (PhD position) in magnetic nanoparticles and electrochemical biosensor

Project Description: 

Funded Academy of Finland, my Academy Research Fellow project aims to develop next-generation point of care device, via the integration of magnetic nanoparticles, electrochemical sensing assay and microfluidic chips. This interdisciplinary project offers a unique opportunity to push the boundaries of bioanalytical assay, enabling breakthroughs in healthcare and beyond.

Qualification requirements:

1)You must hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Life Engineering, and Bio-nano Science, or a related fields. Applicants close to finishing their Master’s degrees will be considered eligible to apply. 

2)The selected candidate will carry out his/her doctoral studies in the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS) and must meet the minimal requirements to receive doctoral study rights.

3)Fluent oral and written English skills similar to the level of IELTS 6.5, good communication and teamwork skills are required. Experience in academic writing and presentation skills are required.

4)Experience in microfluidics, nanoparticle, biosensor will be considered a plus.

5)Research experience in a multidisciplinary and multinational environment will be taken as a merit. Most importantly, we expect the candidate to have a high motivation to conduct high-level research.

Position and salary:

The position is filled for a maximum of two-year period and additional 2 years depends on the continuing funding. The employment begins on 31 April 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary is roughly 2100 – 2400€ per month for an early stage researcher, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and progress of the doctoral thesis. A six-month trial period is applied in the position.

3) Transcript for the undergraduate and graduate degrees;

4) Certificates: scanned electronic copies of the Master’s degree and a certificate or statement of your English proficiency. For the candidates who do not yet hold the Master’s degree, please provide: an official statement from the home University attesting that the coming graduation date of the candidate; master thesis and a letter of support from the candidate’s Supervisor.

5) Publications (optional): a list of maximum of 3 representative publications, such as refereed journal articles and/or master’s thesis.

6) A Research Proposal is necessary for additional funding application (max. 3 pages)
