We are looking for highly qualified and motivated doctoral researchers to join the Faculty of Built Environment  at Tampere University for fixed-term positions 2 or 4 years starting 1 February 2022. Our faculty is made up of two units: Civil Engineering and Architecture. The successful candidates will be able to explore topics relating to any of the research fields of our faculty . 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The goal of a position of doctoral researcher is to complete a doctoral degree in the Built Environment Doctoral Programme  at Tampere University. The aim to complete the degree is 4 years and doctoral researchers are hired on a fixed-term basis for 2 or 4 years. The exact length of the contract will depend on the current stage of your studies and your expected graduation date.  

Besides conducting research for your dissertation, your position may include teaching or other duties in the faculty related to your studies. These duties may be approximately 5% of your overall working hours.   

REQUIREMENTS 

We expect candidates to hold an applicable master’s degree and be already accepted in the faculty doctoral programme.  

When considering candidates, we will focus on the following: 

  • ambition, scientific quality and innovativeness of the research plan 
  • suitability of the research for the research profile of the faculty 
  • merits of the applicant  (for example prior performance in studies and/or academic publications)   
  • demonstrated competence and motivation to successfully complete a doctoral degree 
  • admission into the faculty's doctoral programme

WE OFFER  

The positions will be filled for a fixed-term period of up to four years starting on 1 February 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.  

The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a doctoral researcher is placed on level 2-4 of the job requirements scale. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.
