Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Doctoral Researcher in a project focusing on the role of vitamin D in the development of mental health

The position will be full-time and it will be filled for a fixed-term until August 31, 2023. The position will be filled in at the earliest convenience.

Job description

The appointee will work at the Welfare science unit / Psychology. She/he will work on an Academy of Finland funded project focusing on understanding the role of vitamin D during the prenatal and early childhood period on the emotional, social, behavioural and cognitive development of the child. The project includes data from longitudinal observational studies and randomized trials. The project is internationally networked. 

The appointee is expected to publish in top-level international peer reviewed scientific journals. In addition, she/he is also expected to take part on the other research tasks such as ones related to ongoing follow-up studies and preparing grant applications. The specific responsibilities will vary according to the level of expertise of the candidate.  

Requirements

We are looking for highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Doctoral Researcher in a field relevant to the project’s focus. The fields include Psychology, Medicine, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Public health, or related areas. The candidate must have methodological skills and an excellent written and spoken English. The candidate for Postdoctoral  Research Fellow position should hold a doctoral degree and have published peer-review articles in indexed journals. The candidate for Doctoral Researcher position should hold a master’s degree and have the ability and motivation to pursue post-doctoral studies and doctoral degree in the project.

The contract of employment will be done until 31.8.2023. The expected starting date is as soon as possible, as mutually agreed upon by both parties. The contract of employment includes a probationary period of 6 months. Salary will be based on the Universities salary scheme for teaching and research personnel composed of both task specific and personal performance components.
