The Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering is looking for a highly motivated

DOCTORAL CANDIDATE IN THE AREA OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY OF BATTERY MATERIALS

to join a multidisciplinary initiative, strategically designed to pave the way for a Circular Economy-based society. In this research project, we aim at developing the new engineering concepts required for innovative technical solutions following the principles of circular economy. As part of this project, you will be working on the development and simulation of recycling processes for lithium-ion batteries.

Your experience and ambitions

We are looking for an independent and highly motivated individual with a Master’s degree in one of the following fields:

  • Process Engineering,
  • Chemical Engineering,
  • Environmental Engineering,
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • or similar fields.

The ideal candidate would have knowledge of recycling operations and an understanding of the correlation between the intrinsic properties of inorganic materials and their recycling potential.

Excellence in scientific writing and publishing is expected, and good command of English is a necessary prerequisite. Knowledge of process simulation software, particularly HSC-Chem is considered an asset.

What we offer
The salary is based on Aalto University’s salary system. The contract is initially made for one year, with possibility of extension. The total duration of doctoral studies is four years. The contract includes occupational health care benefits and Finland has a comprehensive social security system. The position is located in the Aalto University campus in Otaniemi, Espoo.
