Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation is a part of Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering. Summer trainee positions are opened for the Robotic Instruments Group (https://www.aalto.fi/department-of-electrical-engineering-and-automation/robotic-instruments ) at the department.
Do you want to build, program and test intelligent, miniature robotic systems that can move according to musical tones, analyse and treat biological cells, perform surgery related tasks, manipulate particles using a droplet of water, or measuring nanoscopic properties of materials?
We are looking for summer trainee who is willing to explore this highly interdisciplinary robotic instruments field. The actual task will be related to our ongoing research projects and can be decided based on the mutual interests of the applicant and the research group. There are at least three types of summer job: developing physical miniature robotic systems, developing algorithms/automation software for intelligent behaviour in miniature robotic systems, or conducting experiments using existing miniature robotic systems. The position is available for summer 2020 (May/June-August or agreed separately). Salary is based on the university salary regulation.
Requirements and details
As a successful applicant you should be highly motivated in learning interdisciplinary skills and eager to work hands-on. The student should have a basic university education inelectrical engineering, and skills in one of the following topics: automation, mechatronics, robotics, measurement technology, applied physics, information technology, software engineering, or related fields.
We will consider students who has studied in university for at least one year, preferable two years or more. The summer job can also be linked to or continued as B.Sc. thesis or M.Sc. thesis. We may select one or several summer trainees depending on the quality of the applicants.
