Doctoral candidate in photoelectrochemical hydrogen production

Do you have hands on experience in liquid-liquid interfaces, flow systems, electrochemistry, photoelectrochemistry and/or redox flow batteries?  Are you searching for an opportunity to use your knowledge and develop your competence further?

The Department of Chemistry and Materials Science is looking for a doctoral candidate to join the group of Physical Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Physics lead by Dr. Pekka Peljo. You would take a part on project that develops photoelectrochemical biphasic flow systems to produce hydrogen at water-organic solvent interface. The aim is to develop inexpensive and safe solutions for photoproduction of hydrogen. The project includes design and testing of photoelectrochemical flow cells, and photoelectrochemical testing of the active materials. As a doctoral candidate in this position, you would have an exciting opportunity to mix electrochemistry, physical and photo chemistry and flow cell research. Participating in this project gives you also possibilities to grow your network, since the project is done in international collaboration.

You have a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Physics or related field at the time of the contract commencement. We count your good knowledge of liquid-liquid interfaces, flow systems, electrochemistry and photoelectrochemistry and electrochemistry of redox flow batteries as well as finite element modeling as your advantage but it’s not a requirement.
