The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Erfurt is advertising the following part-time position (20 hours per week) at the professorship of English Literary Studies, available at 1 April 2022:

1 PhD Position (f/m/d)
Pay category E 13 TV-L (50 %)

Area of Responsibility

  • academic services in research and teaching (2 hours per week) at the Professorship of English Literary Studies, in the degree programmes BA English Studies/American Studies, BA Literary Studies and M Literary Studies
  • supervision of seminar and BA papers
  • further academic qualification with the aim of obtaining a doctorate in English Literary/Cultural Studies
  • support in research projects in the field of literature and cultural studies, especially new materialisms, media conflicts, literature and puppet theatre
  • participation in the research projects of the professorship, especially in applications for external funding (project proposals and joint proposals)
  • participation in administrative tasks of the professorship

Requirements

  • MA/Diploma/state exam in English/British Literary Studies, or in Literary Studies with a focus on English/British or Anglophone literature
  • doctoral project, for example in the areas of New Materialisms/Ecocriticism or literature and puppet theatre
  • very good knowledge of British literary and cultural history
  • near-native knowledge of the English language
  • ability and willingness to participate in research projects of the professorship
  • teaching experience is desirable
  • ability to work in a team, communication skills, commitment and pleasure in working independently
  • fluent knowledge of German
